In an exciting collaboration between Browzwear and Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education in Vietnam (HCMUTE), students have immersed themselves in an innovative 3D project celebrating Vietnamese cultural heritage.
With Browzwear’s advanced tools and support, HCMUTE students have developed stunning animations showcasing the beauty of traditional ethnic costumes. This project is a key part of their studies on the traditional culture of various Vietnamese ethnic groups.
During this project, we’ve spoken with both instructors and students about their experiences with Browzwear, uncovering how the software has enhanced their design capabilities and deepened their understanding of 3D technology in fashion.
HCMUTE instructors explained the value of integrating 3D technology into their classrooms, discussed students' challenges, and described how they overcame them.
According to HCMUTE instructors, 3D technology benefits students in several ways. It improves their ability to visualize designs and quickly spot and fix errors. Students can interact with and explore techniques using 3D models, which helps them understand the material better than traditional methods. The technology also helps them develop important skills like spatial thinking, design, and programming. 3D technology makes lessons more engaging, increasing students' motivation and enhancing their education.
"Integrating 3D technology in teaching is an increasingly popular and significant trend. Accessing and familiarizing students with this technology prepares them better for the job market."
HCMUTE instructors highlight several benefits of 3D apparel design software. First, it enhances visualization and realism, helping students better understand and evaluate their designs. The interactive features allow students to work directly with models, improving their learning and practical skills. The software also simulates real-world scenarios, giving students valuable insights for practical applications. Additionally, 3D products personalize learning by adapting to individual needs and learning styles. They are versatile tools for different subjects and projects, and they integrate well with new technologies, keeping students up-to-date with industry advancements.
HCMUTE instructors observe that students often encounter some challenges when beginning to learn 3D technology. Technical difficulties arise from the complex interfaces and numerous features of 3D software, which can overwhelm beginners. Additionally, students can frequently struggle to find sufficient practice time due to their busy schedules.
To address these challenges, HCMUTE instructors suggest that students focus on learning each tool and feature systematically, gradually building their proficiency with 3D software. They recommend using Browzwear as a valuable resource for learning and hands-on guidance. Strengthening fundamental knowledge in pattern design thinking and drafting is also advised, as it facilitates the effective application of 3D tools. Additionally, developing creativity and design thinking through regular practice helps refine skills and encourages innovative thinking.
“It’s important for students to remain persistent, not be afraid to experiment, and learn from their mistakes throughout the educational process."
HCMUTE students shared their inspiration for creating the project and explained how they integrated 3D software into their workflow.
The HCMUTE students were inspired to create this design project based on an assignment given by their instructor. They were particularly motivated by the beauty of traditional ethnic costumes, which they wanted to showcase through their animations.
“To approach this project, we explored the traditional culture of various Vietnamese ethnic groups to accurately and creatively incorporate these cultural elements into our designs.”
Students highlighted the following VStitcher features:
Easily integrating animation from external sources.
It helped students to incorporate animations, enhancing their design process seamlessly.
Combining with AI and Photoshop.
It enables the addition of patterns and motifs to fabrics, offering greater design flexibility.
Simultaneous 2D and 3D windows.
Working in both views at the same time provides a comprehensive perspective on designs.
Clear visualization of material surfaces.
This helps students better understand and refine their fabric textures.
Colorway function.
Assists in selecting suitable color palettes for production, streamlining the design process.
Multi-angle 3D observation.
Allows students to view their designs from various angles, making it easier to propose and implement editing solutions.
“One of the most beneficial features of VStitcher for us is the ability to work in both 2D and 3D windows simultaneously. Traditionally, we only had 2D tools, but now we can edit in 2D while observing designs from various angles in 3D.”
HCMUTE students faced some challenges in this 3D project, including technical requirements and limited practice time. They were able to overcome these difficulties by combining various techniques to create patterns and experimenting with multiple trials and errors. With the guidance of their instructors and the learning resources provided by Browzwear, they found effective solutions and successfully completed the project.
The collaboration between Browzwear and Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education has been highly beneficial. HCMUTE instructors emphasize that integrating 3D technology into the curriculum enhances visualization, real-world learning, and essential skills development. It also boosts student engagement and prepares them for future trends in the fashion industry. Students are enthusiastic about the growing presence of 3D fashion software in Vietnam and how Browzwear’s support is driving their excitement and innovation.
