In collaboration with Delta Galil and the Jewelry and Fashion Department at Bezalel Academy of Art and Design Jerusalem, we recently hosted a transformative “Garment in a Day” event. This initiative provided fashion students with a unique opportunity to dive into the inner processes of the fashion industry and experience the complete garment development journey—from concept to finished product—in just one day.

About Garment in a Day Event

The event was designed to replicate real-world garment development processes, emphasizing the fusion of creativity and technical precision. Students were challenged to create both a virtual model and a physical twin of a garment using Browzwear’s VStitcher software. The project theme, "Movement and Interaction with the Environment," encouraged students to explore the evolution of fashion from the past to the future.

This collaboration provided students with hands-on experience in garment creation, simulating the urgency and pressure of industry workflows. At the same time, it offered the industry partners an opportunity to showcase their technological expertise while engaging with emerging talent and fresh creative perspectives. Delta Galil, a global leader in the design and manufacturing of intimates and activewear, known for its best-in-class innovation and partnerships with leading international brands, played a key role in this initiative.

The connection is especially valuable, as many of these students graduate with proficiency in VStitcher, equipping them with the skills needed to transition seamlessly into the evolving fashion industry.

A Hands-On Learning Experience

Participants worked together to complete the entire process of garment creation, guided by industry professionals and leveraging modern technology. Here’s how the day unfolded:

  1. Pattern Development in VStitcher
The journey began with a simple VStitcher block, which students used to develop the pattern for their garments. This step involved applying foundational design principles while ensuring the pattern’s technical accuracy.

  2. Fabric Simulation and Rendering
Using Delta’s high-quality fabrics, students simulated the garment’s appearance and rendered a final virtual version to test fit, movement, and overall aesthetic. The Browzwear team supported this process by scanning the physical fabric, ensuring a realistic and precise virtual representation.

  3. Pattern Printing and Fabric Cutting
After finalizing their virtual designs, students printed the pattern pieces and cut the fabric, transforming their digital creations into tangible components for assembly.

  4. Physical Garment Construction
The students then assembled the physical garments, applying sewing techniques and construction methods to bring their designs to life. This step emphasized the hands-on craftsmanship required to transition from digital to physical production.

  5. Final Presentation
The event culminated in a presentation where students showcased their work. Each participant displayed their physical garment alongside its virtual twin, highlighting the seamless integration of technology and traditional fashion design methods.

Reflections and Insights

“The Garment in a Day event not only allowed students to explore the integration between virtual and physical garment creation but also provided them with valuable insights into the industry’s workflow.“ - Gili Azran, 3D patternmaker and fashion lecturer.

This initiative underscored the importance of technological proficiency in the modern fashion landscape, particularly the role of digital product development tools like VStitcher in streamlining the design and production process. For many participants, this was their first experience bridging the gap between digital concepts and physical garments, offering a glimpse into the future of fashion.

"The 3d language has become an industry standard. Collaboration between industry manufacturing, tech, and design students is crucial as it fosters innovation and ensures that technological advancements are seamlessly integrated into practical applications. This collaboration not only enhances the learning experience for students but also drives the development of cutting-edge products that meet real-world needs." - Oshrat Ben-Isaac, director of digital product creation.

A Partnership Driving Innovation

The collaboration with Delta Galil and Bezalel Academy of Art and Design highlights our commitment to fostering the next generation of fashion innovators. By combining industry expertise, advanced technology, and creative exploration, we aim to empower students to push boundaries and shape the future of design.

We’re excited to continue creating opportunities like “Garment in a Day” to inspire and equip emerging designers with the tools and knowledge they need to thrive in the evolving world of fashion.
