Bridging Fashion and Education: Insights from the Box Hill & Browzwear Event

Subscribe

Box Hill Institute and Browzwear hosted a networking event in Melbourne, Australia, focused on the latest innovations in 3D design technology. Students, alumni, industry professionals, and the 3D fashion community were all invited to this event to share their thoughts on the latest technological advancements.

Industry Leaders Share Their Knowledge of 3D Design

The highlight of the event was connecting fashion industry professionals with new talent. As Kylee Mitchell, the Academic Course Manager, noted: "Today is about connecting leaders with the students and alumni and our technology partner Browzwear. This collaboration will equip students with the knowledge to prepare for a technologically driven future in fashion."

During the Box Hill & Browzwear event, students presented various workshops showing the skills they acquired throughout the year. Three main workstations focused on the main aspects of 3D design:

1. Fabric Digitalization

Students were taught how to gather the physical properties of the materials, which they then simulated in 3D to see how they would fit and if any pattern adjustments were required.

2. Artwork Materialization

This station showed students how to add artwork to their designs, adjust it on the virtual prototypes, and work with different types of digital materials.

3. Rendering and Sharing

After iterating on the virtual prototype, students experienced the end-to-end product development workflow by uploading their design to Stylezone and sharing it with the team for further collaboration.

Students learned how to use 3D tools to visualize their ideas and test them on real-size avatars. "Some people struggle to conceptualize in their heads what the product will look like in real life, and 3D software actually does it for you", - says Rose Cimino, Graphic Design Artist. "Such realistic renders are pushing us in the right direction to reduce the waste that physical samples bring."

Browzwear is honored to collaborate with educational institutions like Box Hill. Teaching 3D software to students early in their careers is essential for preparing them for the competitive fashion market.
