This summer, the Browzwear Hong Kong office hosted two outstanding interns, Tracy and Starry, from Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Throughout their internship, they adeptly completed Browzwear's 101, 201, and 301 training modules and their associated exercises. They also gained valuable hands-on experience in fabric testing with the Vizoo Scanner and Browzwear's Fabric Analyzer.
During their internships, Tracy and Starry gained invaluable practical experience by spending two weeks at clients’ companies. Tracy was stationed at American Phil, a distinguished firm specializing in underwear, loungewear, and athleisure, with prominent clients like Calvin Klein and American Eagle. Her responsibilities included developing basic blocks and creating 3D samples of new collections.
Meanwhile, Starry was immersed in the operations of Featuring Limited, a subsidiary of Otto International that specializes in 3D product development. She played a pivotal role in designing 3D products for the 2024 Olympics' "Let’s Move and Celebrate" theme and created three digital outfits for social media campaigns.
The true highlight of the internships was their DPC portfolios. Tracy’s standout collection, “Meet with Teddy Sailor,” was inspired by the iconic Palda Bear from Parisian brand 13DE MARZO, founded in 2018 by designers Eric & Leslie. This collection expresses affection through a detachable, three-dimensional doll, mirroring the concept behind 13DE MARZO’s Dollzoo.
Each garment in Tracy’s collection showcases her creativity and meticulous attention to detail. From the fusion of a sailor's collar with a Krawatte scarf to the innovative use of navy uniforms and denim elements, Tracy's designs are rich in imagination and exemplify her exceptional talent in both fashion design and technical execution.
Starry’s futuristic collection highlights her avant-garde design philosophy and reflects her keen eye for fashion details. Her designs feature three-ring cut-outs at the chest, asymmetrical elements at the lower top and shoulder straps, as well as decorative zippers and additional belt inserts. All of these showcase her exceptional mastery of 3D design software and her ability to precisely bring intricate concepts to life.
Throughout the design process, Tracy and Starry encountered several challenges, such as adjusting avatar body measurements, fine-tuning hand postures to enhance naturalness, and perfecting a complex top and the puffy effect of jacket sleeves. They overcame these obstacles through perseverance and innovative thinking.
Reflecting on their journey, Tracy and Starry find their greatest reward in the skills and knowledge they’ve gained and in the thrill of tackling and overcoming the challenges of 3D garment creation. Their adventure has given them a front-row seat in the evolution of the fashion industry. Far from being mere observers, they are thrilled to be at the forefront of this revolutionary shift. With full confidence in 3D technology to transform fashion design, they proudly embrace their role as pioneers in this dynamic evolution.
